Observation and Layout of the Organic
Vegetable Garden with Companion Planting

organic garden

Finding the sun
When you wake up in the morning, and stumble out of bed, you head into the kitchen and look out the window. You wonder about how to make a garden that is filled with nutritious vegetables, a range of fresh, health-giving herbs and flowers to embellish your life.
You can choose to either plan a garden or just plunge outside, armed with your fork and shovel and start turning up the soil, throw seed and seedlings everywhere, it might not work out so well. With proper planning you can have a flourishing organic garden at your disposal, full of fresh vegetables, and herbs and flowers too. A happy garden yields a fuller crop using companion planting. Companion planting is a natural way to keep pests and disease at bay without pesticides. If you don't want to waste your time, if you are serious about wanting a garden-of-delight, you need to observe a couple of core issues that are simple to implicate just by sitting back and observing a couple of things.
Take note of how the sun moves. At what time does the sun first hit the area you want to grow the organic vegetables? Morning sun is the most important time of the day for the soil to start warming up to get the seeds to germinate. This means a successful organic vegetable garden cannot have less then 6 hours of direct sunlight every day.
The movement of the sun will influence the way your plants grow in the garden. If you place a plant like corn, in an area that does not receive much sun during the day, it will not yield as well as a corn that you plant in an area with full sun.

Observation and Planning the layout for abundant crop.
Determine the size of the garden? What should you grow and what combination should you use in your layout of your organic vegetable garden with companion planting. Figure out what soil you have? Decide what vegetables, herbs and flowers you want to eat and enjoy from your garden to reflect the recipes you love to cook.
Layout your intentions on paper first. This method will allow you to work out how many plants you can grow? How much seed to buy? How many pathways you need to get to your vegetables to water and weed them? What combinations of vegetables, herbs and flowers should be grown together?
Keep in mind to allow space to put tomato cages or trellises for vine plants like cucumber, squash and tomatoes.
A fence is a good idea to keep out the pets, animals and children from damaging the crops.
Tie old Cd's you were thinking of throwing out along the fence line to keep birds from eating the seedlings in the organic garden. The sun will reflect off the disk which will distract the birds from eating the crops. A modern scarecrow.

Out the Box Gardening
There are many ways to plant your vegetable garden. It does not matter what size or space is available to start a garden. A modern way for gardeners with limited space is container gardening. This is a convenient way to move your garden if there is a lack of sun for the crops you want to grow. Container gardening can be effective and convenient. The same rules apply from observing the sun and mapping out the layout of your companion planting organic garden.

Make sure to adjust all planting to suit your local conditions and the prevailing weather.
