I caught up with Deb on facebook to ask her what's her fav LGTB movie and more.
Notstraight: Which is your favorite genre for movies? (Coming Out/Camp/Comedy/ Romance/Suspense/Action/Horror...etc....)
Deb Alder: Inspirational/Motivational, and ANIMATED
Notstraight: What is your favorite LGTB movie? Deb Alder: Radical Harmonies
Notstraight: What is your favorite Hetrosexual movie? Deb Alder: What the Bleep Do We Know
Notstraight: If you could have a luncheon with any two people (real of fictitious/ from any time period, dead or alive) Which two people would you choose and why? Deb Alder: Parisha Taylor and Hillary Clinton. Grandmother Parisha, as she is known to some, has been my Elder and also business coach for over 20 years. She is all inclusive and has helped many to self-empowerment and humanitarian projects benefitting all age groups and walks of life. I would love to see the interaction between her and Hillary, whom I greatly respect for her personal and political achievement. Two high energy, high powered influential kick-ass women and me! YES!
Notstraight: Which is your favorite time of the day? Are you a morning person or a night person? Deb Alder: I am a morning and night person. As a Sun Dancer I love watching the Sun to come up so I can greet her.
Notstraight: What's your favorite song/artist of the moment? Deb Alder: I Gotta Feeling - Black Eyed Peas
Notstraight: Are you a cat or a dog lover? Deb Alder: Both
Notstraight: Do you have a pet/s? Deb Alder: Grew up in a house resembling Noah's Ark with 2 of everything: dogs, cats, guinea pigs, parakeets, fish, etc. Had many pets over the years. Special companions - Siamese cat Myster-Re and Calico cat Patches, about 17 years each. Then became resident staff at Friendship Village Int'l Retreat and Conference Center for 16 yrs where we had dogs, cats, goats, horses, lama, sheep, chickens, guinea hen and peacocks, etc - all outside!
Notstraight: What was the first film/play you acted in? Deb Alder: Not counting the endless puppet shows I used to do as a kid for my parents, senior HS play: Sandy in A Thousand Clowns
Notstraight: Do you like to sing karaoke? Deb Alder: Like real stage performance better, but karaoke ok.
Notstraight: Do you like black and white movies? Why or why not? Deb Alder: B&W movies came from a time when much more was left to the imagination (mostly due to extremely restrictive censorship), but the plus side of that was, to me, greater creativity. Early B&W TV was like that also. Color, as an element of composition in photography, can be an asset but just to add shock value, or worse taken for granted entirely can render a production mediocre and meaningless. B&W documentaries are great. Loved a 2-part M*A*S*H filmed as a war-news documentary in B&W. Message came through loud and clear!
