Presenting Artist: Robert Paul

Little Rainbow Comics

Robert Paul is an Out artist living in Los Angeles CA. He is a trained animator and mostly self taught artist who loves cartoon & comic book style of imagery and story telling.

Robert Paul has created a line of greeting cards that cater to the LGBT community. Go take a look here. Robert also has a line of T-shirts, Christmas Ornaments and prints available. Take a look here.

In September of 2009, Robert Paul launched a web comic called "'Little Rainbow Comics" (LRC)- the adventures of Stan, Denisha and Zack - just your typical 1st graders who happen to be gay.
The inspiration behind the strip is that gay people aren't born 21 years old and waving Pride Flags; rather we started out as gay children. With LRC he hopes to shed some light on the issues of growing up being gay. Hopefully people of all ages who are coming out can take something from his work and be inspired.

QueerChatter with Robert Paul

I caught up with Robert on facebook to ask him what's his fav LGTB movie and more below.

cartoon artist Little Rainbow Comics Notstraight:What was the first LGTB movie you watched?
Robert Paul: Jeffrey

Notstraight: What is your favorite genre for movies?
Coming Out / Camp / Romance / Suspense / Action / Horror

Robert Paul: Romantic Comedy

Notstraight: What is your favorite LGTB movie?
Robert Paul: Connie & Carla

Notstraight: What is your favorite Hetrosexual movie?
Robert Paul: Practical Magic

Notstraight: If you could have a luncheon with any two people (real of fictitious/ from any time period, dead or alive), which two people would you choose and Why?
Robert Paul: Bill Waterson (Calivn & Hobbes) and David Eddings (Author) - I admire them both for their work- I styled my strip after the great C&H and I have an unpublished novel (gay romantic fiction) that has that light/charming humor of Eddings.

Notstraight: Which is your favorite time of the day? Are you a morning person or a night person?
Robert Paul: Evening to Late night. I am a night owl.

Notstraight: What's your favorite song/artist of the moment?
Robert Paul: Just saw Glee : 'Loser Like Me'

Notstraight: What's your favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon?
Robert Paul: Hang out with my Husband.

Notstraight: Are you a cat or a dog lover?
Robert Paul: Both but we're both allergic

Notstraight: Do you have a pet/s?
Robert Paul: None (see above)

Notstraight: Do you like to sing in the shower?
Robert Paul: Yes

Notstraight: What was your first tattoo or piercing and where is it? What does it stand for?
Robert Paul: N/A = No tatts or piercings - we're both boring like that. BUT if the strip gets as big as I'd like - I'd get something about LRC on me somewhere.

Notstraight: What was the first film/play you acted in?
Robert Paul: Something in 3rd grade.

Notstraight: Do you like to sing karaoke?
Robert Paul No but I would if I was comfortable enough.

Notstraight: Would you rather have the power to be invisible or the power to read minds?
Robert Paul: Read minds - I could find criminals easier.

Notstraight: Do you like black and white movies? Why or why not?
Robert Paul: Don't care as long as the story is good.

Notstraight: Thanks Robert for taking the time to answer these quick questions.
