I caught up with Thom on facebook to ask him what's his fav LGTB movie and more below.
Notstraight:What was the first LGTB movie you watched? Thom Fitzgerald: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Notstraight: What is your favorite genre for movies? Coming Out / Camp / Romance / Suspense / Action / Horror Thom Fitzgerald: Any genre is good with me if the movie is good.
Notstraight: What is your favorite LGTB movie? Thom Fitzgerald: Gosh. What a question. Just one? Maybe "All About My Mother"... I love the yearning and deep respect that permeates that movie.
Notstraight: What is your favorite Hetrosexual movie? Thom Fitzgerald: That's funny, I hadn't really thought about that either. ALIEN... I don't know what is heterosexual about John Hurt giving birth to an alien baby. But I love that movie too.
Notstraight: If you could have a luncheon with any two people (real of fictitious/ from any time period, dead or alive), which two people would you choose and Why? Thom Fitzgerald: Jesus Christ and Eeyore. I have always been torn between their philosophies.
Notstraight: Which is your favorite time of the day? Are you a morning person or a night person? Thom Fitzgerald: I like mornings but I mostly sleep through them. I don't sleep easily. Nights are a more fruitful creative time for me.
Notstraight: What's your favorite song/artist of the moment? Thom Fitzgerald: kd lang and Gershwin these days. Wish those two would get together!
Notstraight: What's your favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon? Thom Fitzgerald: I like to read on Sundays, or write or edit when it is extra quiet. In summer it's a long walk.
Notstraight: Are you a cat or a dog lover? Thom Fitzgerald: Both are amazing.
Notstraight: Do you have a pet/s? Thom Fitzgerald: No.
Notstraight: Do you like to sing in the shower? Thom Fitzgerald: I do. A lot. It's embarrassing. I'm pretty good though, according to my loofa.
Notstraight: What was your first tattoo or piercing and where is it? What does it stand for? Thom Fitzgerald: I had 5 earrings as a teenager. It stood for teenage angst, I guess. I had a teacher who remarked that my individuality would be better judged by my actions, and I more or less took that to heart. The earrings only lasted a year or so.
Notstraight: What was the first film/play you acted in? Thom Fitzgerald: I was one of the famed "Ten Little Indians" in the kindergarten pageant.
Notstraight: Do you like to sing karaoke? Thom Fitzgerald: No. It lacks the steam and echo of the shower, I guess.
Notstraight: Would you rather have the power to be invisible or the power to read minds? Thom Fitzgerald: Wow. Invisible I think. I'd be a peeping Thom. To read minds I think would be too heartbreaking.
Notstraight: Do you like black and white movies? Why or why not? Thom Fitzgerald: I love a lot of black and white movies, but not specifically because they are black and white. I love "Shanghai Express", "Notorious" and a very long list of great black and white movies. I do acknowledge that there is a particular sort of beauty that can be rendered in black and white but not in colour.
Notstraight: Thanks Thom for taking the time to answer these quick questions.
